Warren Michael Cochran

Warren Michael Cochran, 96, of Butler passed away Thursday at his home.

Born April 6, 1920, in Reeder, W.Va., he was the son of Friend and Bertie Cochran.

Warren graduated from Harbor Creek School and Washington State College, before serving his country during World War II.

He achieved the rank of corporal in the U.S. Army and completed flight school in 1944 to be part of the U.S. Army Air Corps. He was stationed in Panama, Okinawa, Korea and North China.

Warren enlisted with the Pennsylvania State Police in 1946 and was stationed in Beaver Falls, Erie, New Castle and Butler. In 1964, he was promoted to corporal and in 1966, he was promoted to sergeant.

After retiring from the state police, he worked at Pullman Standard, later Trinity Industries, as the captain of the guard.

A member of St. Peter's Anglican Church in Butler, Warren also was a member of the state police shooting team and the American Legion and was the treasurer for the Fraternal Order of Police Brady Paul Memorial Lodge 54.

Warren was a quiet man who enjoyed a full life. He was devoted to his faith and his family.

Warren married Olga M. Walowen Cochran on May 13, 1950, who survives. He also is survived by his two children, Debra Cochran-Harrf and her husband, Jim, and James B. Cochran and his wife, Michele.

Warren was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, his sister and his sons, Michael and Thomas.

COCHRAN — Warren Michael Cochran, who died Thursday, Oct. 27, 2016, will be cremated and his family will have a private burial.Memorial donations may be made to the St. Peter's Anglican Church in Butler.
