ADAMS TWP — Residents of Cobblestone Village soon will see township trucks in their neighborhood for the first time.

The supervisors at their Monday night meeting agreed to take over the two roads in the community of 25 four-unit patio homes off of Three Degree Road. The roads formerly belonged to the homeowners association, which contracted a landscaping service to plow snow in years past.

Leonard Boras, president of the Cobblestone Village Homeowners Association, said the roads did not meet township specifications and had to be upgraded for the township to take ownership of them.

He said about $50,000 to $60,000 from the association’s capital improvements fund was used to make upgrades, which included a wider entrance at Downieville Road, upgrades to the catch basins and curbs, lowering of storm sewers and other work.

Boras in December approached the supervisors about plowing the roads for a fee. He said the association paid the township about $6,000 to plow in the neighborhood last winter.

Boras was all smiles after Monday’s supervisors meeting. He said all five supervisors, and particularly Chairman Donald Aiken, were very helpful and accessible in the process to have the roads adopted by the township.

“They were great to work with and bent over backwards to help us,” said Boras, who has been working on the issue for almost a year. “I never thought dealing with a government body would have been that pleasurable.”

Boras also praised code enforcement officer Gary Peaco, solicitor Mike Gallagher and township secretary Janet Lubbert for their help in the project.
