Candidate who planned to withdraw voted to 1 of 5 seats on Moniteau school board

Republican candidate for the Moniteau school board Todd Minnear announced plans to withdraw from the race prior to Election Day, but on Tuesday, Nov. 7, voters elected him alongside four others to fill five open seats, according to unofficial results.

Minnear, a newcomer of Clay Township, received more votes than any other candidate. He skated to victory with 1,279 votes, or 18.57% of the votes cast, unofficial results indicate.

Additionally, the four candidates who appeared on both the Republican and Democratic ballot advanced.

Mark E. DeMatteis and Kathy McBride retained their seats on the board. The two incumbents tied for second place in the race. Each earned 1,210 votes, or 17.57% of the vote.

Brittney Beachem-Larimore was elected to the board for the first time after being appointed in July to fill a vacant seat, and Travis Beachem earned a seat on the board for the first time.

Beachem-Larimore received 1,114 votes, or 16.18% of the vote. Beachem received 1,119 votes, or 16.25% of the vote.

Democratic candidate Jennifer Rottman failed to secure enough votes to win a seat with just 903 votes, or 13.11% of the vote. She had served on the board since 2019.

DeMatteis, of Boyers, is in his fourth year on the school board. He retired from the U.S. Office of Personnel Management in Boyers.

McBride, of Marion Township, graduated from Moniteau Jr./Sr. High School. She and her husband own a small business in Boyers.

Beachem-Larimore, of Cherry Township, has children in the district and has served on the board since being appointed to fill a vacant position in July.

Beachem, of Clay Township, works as the full-time operations manager for a manufacturing company.
