Miller Minutes
As hard as they are to watch, there are a plethora of war movies that qualify as cinematic masterpieces. One of my favorites is “Hacksaw Ridge,” but “Saving Private Ryan,” “Full Metal Jacket” and “Unbroken” are some other good ones.
As wonderfully made as those movies are, there’s no way to simulate the true horrors of war, which is why it’s important to thank those who have served.
This weekend is Veterans Day. There are several events taking place where you can honor veterans and their sacrifices, and of course, you should attend them.
I would be remiss if I didn’t point out that you can thank a veteran every day. They wear hats, they display stickers, or they’ll tell you stories about their experience; listen to those stories.
If you can’t attend one of these events, look up as you walk down Main Street, and take a moment to read the names on the veterans’ banners. Reflect on the sacrifices of those who died, and those who came home.
Here are other opportunities to be entertained, or reflect, this weekend.
