8 Mars athletes sign letters of intent

ADAMS TWP — Eight Mars students signed letters of intent on Wednesday to continue their respective academic and athletic careers in college.

Mya Cote will continue her women’s lacrosse career at St. Joseph’s University in Philadelphia. She plans to major in health science.

The daughter of Justin and Rachelle Cote of Mars, Mya is a four-year member of the Planets’ lacrosse team and has played for a WPIAL 2A championship team with the Planets.

Cole Dermitt will continue his men’s lacrosse career at Chatham University, where he plans to major in business management.

The son of John and Laurie Dermitt of Mars, Cole is a four-year member of the lacrosse team and has played for PIAA and WPIAL championship teams with the Planets.

Enzo Grieco will continue his men’s lacrosse career at Penn State University. He plans to major in business finance.

The son of Vincent and Catherine Grieco of Gibsonia, he is a four-year member of the lacrosse team, played for WPIAL and PIAA championship teams, and has been named a 2023 USA Lacrosse All-American.

Mayson Kennedy will continue her softball career with West Liberty University in West Virginia. She will major in criminal justice.

The daughter of John and Valarie Kennedy of Valencia, Mayson is a four-year member of the softball team, which finished 7-9 last season, 4-6 in section play.

Zoey Krock will continue her hockey career at the University of Minnesota Duluth. She plans to major in rehabilitation and health science.

The daughter of Tim and Erin Krock of Mars, Zoey has played with the Pittsburgh Penguins Elite for the past 10 years, is a forward on the 19U girls team and competed in the Chipolte-USA Hockey National Championship.

Jack McKenzie will continue his men’s lacrosse career at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County. He has yet to declare a major.

The son of James and Kelly McKenzie of Gibsonia, Jack is a four-year member of the lacrosse team, played on WPIAL and PIAA championship teams, and was named a 2023 USA Lacrosse All-American.

Rosie Pellegrino will continue her women’s soccer career at Ashland University in Ohio. She plans to major in accounting.

The daughter of Brian and Tracey Pellegrino of Mars, Rosie is a four-year member of the soccer team and has won WPIAL and PIAA titles with the program. The Planets won the section title this year and are competing in the PIAA Tournament.

Taylor Schmitt will continue her women’s softball career at Seton Hill University. She plans to major in health science.

The daughter of Brad and Jaime Schmitt of Valencia, Taylor is a four-year member of the softball team. She was named first-team all-section last season.
