Raymond E. Hackworth

Raymond E. Hackworth, 84, of Pine Township, Wexford, passed away on Monday morning, at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh.

Born in Bauerstown, Pa., April 16, 1933, he was the son of the late Henry and Anna (Shepard) Hackworth.

Raymond was an installation supervisor for Western Electric, now AT&T.

He was a member and former board president and trustee at St. John Lutheran Church in Mars.

He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War as a reconnaissance photographer on a B-36 Bomber attached to the Strategic Air Command.

Surviving are his wife, Geneva (Oesch) Hackworth, whom he married Oct. 13, 1956; a daughter, Kathleen (Steven) Schnelle of Cranberry Township; three sons, Robert (Tracy) Hackworth of Sandy, Utah, Edward (Ruth) Hackworth of Dublin, Ohio, and Matthew (Melissa) Hackworth of Sumter, S.C.; his grandchildren, Melissa, Andrew, Nicholas, Christian, Emily, Ashley, Jacob, Colin and Abigail; his great-grandchildren, Austin and Alex; and a sister, Anna Marie Ruzomberka of Millvale.

Raymond was preceded in death by his brothers, Edward Donald Hackworth and Henry Hackworth.

HACKWORTH — Friends of Raymond E. Hackworth, who died Monday, Sept. 25, 2017, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at McDonald-Aeberli Funeral Home, 238 Crowe Ave., Mars. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at St. John Lutheran Church, Beaver Street, Mars, with the Rev. Robert Zimmerman, pastor, officiating. Please meet at the church.
