John Berteotti Jr.
John Berteotti Jr., 86, of Petrolia died Saturday.
He was born on Feb. 16, 1925, in Kaylor, the son of John Berteotti, Sr., and Ethel Cimra Berteotti, who are deceased.
John was a member of Mater Dolorosa Roman Catholic Church of Chicora.
He honorably served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II. John crewed on a tanker and liberty ships that crossed the Atlantic Ocean nine times, in addition to a single voyage that circled the world.
He was employed by Pullman Standard for 21 years, where he worked in the paint shop. He also worked at Michigan Limestone in Bradys Bend.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Martha M. (Geibel) Berteotti, who he married Feb. 12, 1949; his five children, John Michael Berteotti of Karns City, Bernard James Berteotti and his wife, Deborah, of Karns City, Cynthia Anne Gregory and her husband, Ron, of Butler, Gregory Alan Berteotti of Emlenton, and Darlene Berteotti of Boyers; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Mary Infantino of Kaylor, Rosalie Hartzell of Knox, and Grace Berteotti of Karns City.
He was preceded in death by three children, Anna Louise, who died in 1952, Jean Elizabeth, who died in 1955, and Eric Paul, who died in 1967; his sister, Elvera Louise Berteotti; three brothers, Joseph, Frank and Louis; and his son-in-law, Dennis James Hawk.
