Elmer J. “Red” Michael, 87, of Cranberry Township died Thursday at the Good Samaritan Hospice in Wexford.
Born May 13, 1923, in Pittsburgh, he was
the son of the late John and Blanche Herman Michael.Mr. Michael was a World War II U.S. Navy veteran and was a member of the Youngsville American Legion.He retired from the former Wycoff Steel in Ambridge. He was an elder and an active member of the Plains Presbyterian Church in Cranberry Township.He loved camping with his family and enjoyed the outdoors.He is survived by two sons, Harold Michael of Gunnison, Colo., and Thomas Michael (Jan) of Warren; two daughters, Arlene Beatty (Donald) of Gunnison, Colo., and Jennifer Mignanelli (Michael) of Harmony; one brother, Herm Michael (Doris) of Cranberry Township; six grandchildren, Steven G. Michael Jr., Jennifer Halahurich, Valissa Mignanelli, Michael Mignanelli, Robert Nicoletti and Joe Carr; five great-grandchildren; and his longtime friend, Barb Carey.He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty (Larkin) Michael, and a son, Steven G. Michael Sr.
<B>MICHAEL</B> — Friends of Elmer J. “Red” Michael, who died Thursday, Dec. 9 2010, will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the <B>Glenn-Kildoo Funeral Home</B>, 130 Wisconsin Ave., Cranberry Township. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home with his pastor, the Rev. Frank Edwin Heller, officiating.
