John E. Carrick Jr.

John E. “Jack” Carrick Jr., 85, of Saxonburg, formerly of New Kensington died Sunday, Dec. 6, 2020, in UPMC St. Margaret Hospital in Pittsburgh.

He was born Oct. 2, 1935, in Pittsburgh, and was the son of the late John E. Carrick Sr. and Helen Pauline Kush Carrick.

Jack was a U.S. Army veteran.He had been a 23-year member of Harvest Baptist Church in Natrona Heights.He worked for 40+ years as a shipping supervisor for Haskell Steel Office Furniture in Verona.He spent many hours in his extensive wood shop making birdhouses, whirligigs, and furniture for his children and grandchildren. He also planted a large garden, and enjoyed fly fishing and traveled many times with his brother and sons, to his favorite spot on the Loyalsock Creek. He enjoyed reading, especially Westerns, but in his later years, what he enjoyed most was spending time with his loving wife.He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Louise Marie Warters Carrick; three children, Paula (Chris) Barth of Sarver, and Jeffery (Bridgette) Carrick and Stephen Carrick, both of Ashland, Ohio; six grandchildren, Jacob and Lydia Barth, and Jessie, Jack, Jillian and Jayden Carrick; and his brother, Michael Carrick of Pittsburgh.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Dorothy Smith.CARRICK — Private funeral services and burial will be held for John E. “Jack” Carrick Jr., who died Sunday, Dec. 6, 2020, in Greenwood Memorial Park, Lower Burrell.Arrangements were handled by RUSIEWICZ FAMILY OF FUNERAL DIRECTORS, Arnold and Lower Burrell.Please visit www.rusiewiczfh.com.
