Steven E. “Norty” Northime, 59, of Chicora, passed away unexpectedly of natural causes Tuesday morning, Nov. 28, 2023, at Butler Memorial Hospital.

Steven was born in Butler on Jan. 5, 1964. He was the son of James F. Northime of Chicora and the late Margaret Francis Northime.

He was a 1982 graduate of Karns City Area High School and had been employed for many years as a truck driver.

Steve enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, canning, working on cars and tinkering in the garage. He had been a longtime member of the Chicora Moose Lodge.

Norty is survived by a daughter, Brittney Smith and her husband, Cody, of Chicora; and he was affectionately “Granddad” to his three grandchildren, Connor, Madelyn and Bronson. Also surviving is a sister, Richelle Schreckengost and her husband, Keith, of Slippery Rock; his girlfriend, Rena Bortmes of Chicora; as well as a number of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by a sister, Alicia Northime; his grandparents; and a number of aunts and uncles.

NORTHIME — Friends of Steven E. “Norty” Northime, who died Tuesday, Nov. 28, 2023, will be received from 1 to 3 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at HILE FUNERAL HOME OF CHICORA, 339 Chicora Fenelton Road, Chicora.

Members of the Chicora Moose Lodge will conduct a memorial service for their departed brother at 6 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home with Bishop Alan Ion, pastor of the Karns City Church of God of Prophecy, officiating. Interment will be in Hemphill Cemetery, Chicora.
