Anthony Vincent Smocer
Anthony Vincent Smocer, 88, of Cranberry Township passed away with peace and dignity Friday.
Born April 22, 1927, Tony was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, a graduate of Carnegie Mellon University and a distinguished engineer.
He is survived by his beautiful and beloved wife of 50 years, Barbara Jean (LaRosa) Smocer; his sister, Mildred Jean (Smocer) Raheb of Rockledge, Fla.; his children, daughter, Susan Smocer Platt and her husband, Ron Platt, of Great Falls, Va., and son, Michael Smocer and his wife, Malinda Smocer; dazzling granddaughters, Makara and Marin Smocer of Cranberry Township; his daughter, Jessica Smocer, of Baltimore, Md.; and his grandsons, Gage and Parker Smocer-Hilderbrand of State College, Pa., who carry his strength and his features into the next generation.
As we grieve at his physical departure from our arms, he is welcomed by so many who he loved so dearly. His wife, gone but always remembered, Julia Helen Gaslevic Smocer; his siblings, Henry, Mildred, Anne, Michael, Aloysius, Frank, Joseph, Margaret and Richard, gone but never forgotten; and Zeus, his Irish Wolfhound, who stands again beside him.
We celebrate his full life. We never knew a moment without his love. We carry his warmth with us now. Non est vivere sed valere vita est.
