Tony J. Monday Jr.
Tony J. Monday Jr., 91, of Butler passed away Thursday at his home.
Born Feb. 2, 1924, in Butler, he was a son of the late Tony and Angelina Mariano Monday Sr.
Tony, along with his brothers, Nicholas and Henry Sr., operated Monday's Shoes on Main Street in downtown Butler for more than 60 years. Tony's nephews, Henry Jr. and Michael Monday, are now the third generation of Mondays to operate the store.
Tony was a lifelong member of Saint Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church. He served as a eucharistic minister at the church and he was part of the money-counting team that tallied the weekly church envelope collection.
He is survived by his wife, Edith Grossi Monday; one daughter, Judy Meyers and her husband, Robert, of Butler; one brother, Nicholas Monday; and a number of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two sisters and one brother.
