Melvin James Whitling, 60, of Butler died at 9:34 a.m. Thursday at his home.

Born Aug. 25, 1947, in Knox, he was the son of the late Glenn and Dorothy Maxine Horner Whitling.

He worked at the F.B. Leopold Co. in Zelienople.

Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Rich (Jessica) Miller of Renfrew; a son, Matthew Whitling of Renfrew, and a brother, Eugene Whitling of Portersville.

He was preceded in death by a brother.

<B>WHITLING</B> — Friends of Melvin James Whitling, who died Thursday, Nov. 29, 2007, will be received from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday at the <B>Young Funeral Home</B>, 127 W. Jefferson St. Services will follow at 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev. George Miller, pastor of the Butler Assembly of God Church, officiating.
