Laureen Hartman
Laureen A. Hartman, 81, of Renfrew, formerly of Castle Shannon, passed away peacefully on Sunday afternoon, Dec. 17, 2023, surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Pittsburgh on March 4, 1942, she was the daughter of the late Victor and Florence Kleina Zakowski Sr.
She was a graduate of Brentwood High School.
Laureen was the owner of Meadowood Boarding Kennel in Renfrew. An avid equestrian, she showed her beloved horse, Keystone Generette — affectionately known as “Genny” — at numerous championships throughout the tri-state area. She was a compassionate animal lover who took in many strays and nursed many injured critters back to health. She was very artistic and enjoyed crafts, crocheting and drawing.
She attended St. Mark the Evangelist Parish at Holy Sepulcher Church in Glade Mills.
Surviving are her children, Richard Hartman Jr. (Judy) of Penn Township, Kristen Forst (Dan) of Cranberry Township and Scott Hartman (Cheryl) of Crystal Lake, Ill.; her grandchildren, Nicole, Rebekah, Daniel, Allison, Jessica and Molly; and her beloved dog, “Lizabeth.” Also surviving are a sister, Marsha Zakowski of McMurray; and two brothers, Victor Zakowski Jr. (Carol) of Harmony and Rodney Zakowski (Linda) of Castle Shannon.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard J. Hartman, whom she married on June 25, 1964, and who died on March 13, 2023.
