Woman hit by vehicle in Butler flown to Pittsburgh hospital

A 73-year-old woman was airlifted to a Pittsburgh hospital Tuesday evening, Dec. 19, after being struck by a vehicle on Main Street in Butler, according to county dispatchers.

Crews from the Butler Bureau of Fire, city police, and Butler Ambulance Service responded to the scene outside Peoples Gas a little after 6 p.m.

Officials reported the woman was found conscious on the road with a serious leg injury. Robert O’Neill, chief of Butler city police, said the injury was not life threatening.

The woman was transported by ambulance to Butler Memorial Hospital, where a medical helicopter flew her to Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh.

O’Neill said the vehicle’s driver and a witness were present when police arrived on scene.

The crash is still under investigation, according to O’Neill.
