Indecent assault charge filed against Butler pastor

The pastor of a Butler church is facing another charge of indecent assault after previously being accused earlier this month of sexually assaulting two underage girls.

Herman C. Rushing Jr., 67, pastor of By His Grace Christian Ministries, was charged Friday, Dec. 22, with misdemeanor indecent assault by state police, related to a March 2022 incident in Butler.

According to police, Rushing had inappropriate sexual contact with two girls under the age of 16 on numerous occasions. He also is accused of engaging in inappropriate sexual acts with an adult female member of the congregation.

Rushing was charged earlier this month with felonies and misdemeanors of indecent assault, corruption of minors and child endangerment after an extensive investigation.

He was placed in Butler County Prison in lieu of $75,000 bail, which was reduced to $50,000 after he waived his preliminary hearing Dec. 21 before District Judge Kevin O’Donnell. He remains incarcerated.
