John L. Sporrer

John L. Sporrer, 83, of Evans City, passed away on Tuesday, Aug. 3, 2021, while under the care of UPMC Passavant Hospital in McCandless Township.

Born Nov. 16, 1937, in Pittsburgh, he was the son of the late Joseph Sporrer and Angela Weiherer Sporrer.

John proudly served in the U.S. Army.He was known to be a hardworking man, continuing to work until age 73. John enjoyed a good laugh, and tried to set a good example for others. He loved sports, especially the old days of baseball, and the Pittsburgh Steelers. He also enjoyed going to air shows. An avid outdoorsman, John loved hunting and fishing.He will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by his family and friends.John leaves behind to cherish his memory his three daughters, Jean (Phil) Bartek of the North Hills, Tami (Andy) Watson of Evans City, and Heidi (Tom) Hodder of Ellwood City; his five grandchildren, Russel Bartek, Marie (Daniel) Beaton, Lily (Ryan) Hudacsek, and Mindi and Baylee Hodder; his two great-grandchildren, Melody and Adeline; and numerous nieces and nephews.In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 55 years, Barbara Joan Dietels Sporrer, who passed away Nov. 3, 2013; his granddaughter, Deanna Bartek; his three brothers, Richard, Francis and Joseph Sporrer; and his sister, Irene “Dolly” Mellott.SPORRER — Friends of John L. Sporrer, who died Tuesday, Aug. 3, 2021, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at BOYLAN FUNERAL HOME, 116 E.
