Elizabeth Scarborough

Elizabeth J. “Betty” Rebel Scarborough, 81, of the St. John Specialty Care Center in Mars, formerly of Evans City, died Tuesday morning at the care center.

Born July 25, 1924, in Pittsburgh, she was the daughter of Aloysius and Caroline M. Powel Rebel.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church, Evans City, where she had taught Sunday school for many years. She was a former member of the Women of the Moose Lodge 957, Harmony.

Mrs. Scarborough retired as a waitress as John’s Bar.

Surviving are six sons, David Scarborough of Mansfield, Ohio, James, Wayne and Danny Scarborough, all of Evans City, Dennis Scarborough of Rochester and Mark Scarborough, West Sunbury; four daughters, Mrs. Tom (Carol) Schiller of Conway, S.C., Mrs. Al (Mary) McCloy of Evans City, Bernice Adams of Renfrew and Mrs. Mike (Beth) Lendyak of Polk; and three sisters, Mrs. Rose Marie Schuckman, Carol Beck and Sister Myron (Bernice) Rebel, all of Pittsburgh.

She also is survived by 22 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren

She was preceded in death by her husband, William A. Scarborough, who died Nov. 1, 1983; and three brothers.

<B>SCARBOROUGH</B> — Friends of Elizabeth J. “Betty” Rebel Scarborough, who died Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2006, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 8 p.m. Friday at the A. CARL KINSEY-RONALD N. VOLZ FUNERAL HOME, 328 W. Main St., Evans City. Funeral services will follow at 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home with the Rev. Jeff Mackay, her church pastor, officiating.
