Joyce A. Metheney

Joyce A. "Angel" Metheney, 60, of Grove City, died Sunday evening at Shadyside Hospital in Pittsburgh following a one-month illness.

Born May 28, 1944, in Volant, she was the daughter of the late Ralph and Hazel Montgomery Lumley.

She attended Grove City schools. A homemaker, she was formerly employed as a clerk at the Pantry Store in Grove City.

Mrs. Metheney was a Presbyterian and a member of the American Legion Post 220 Auxiliary.

She was an avid bingo player.

She is survived by her hsuband, William Metheney Sr., whom she married March 2, 1962; two daughters, Sherry Davison of Evans City and Lea Lester of Grove City; two sons, William Metheney Jr. and Timothy Metheney, both of Grove City; two brothers, Tom Norden of Rhode Island and Alton Lumley of Grove City; and six sisters, Hattie Hoffman, Sadie Arnold, Sharon Dannels and Alice Young, all of Grove City; Linda Norden of Rhode Island and Nellie Stowe of Harrisville.

She also is survived by nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

A sister and a brother preceded her in death.

METHENEY - Friends of Joyce A. "Angel" Metheney, who died Sunday, Aug. 15, 2004, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at CUNNINGHAM FUNERAL HOME, 306 Bessemer Ave., Grove City. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. The Rev. Patricia Mollick of Grace United Methodist Church will officiate. Burial will be in Prairie Cemetery, Harrisville.Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 19 Jefferson Ave., Sharon, PA.
