Harold Donnell

Harold E. Donnell, 84, of Buffalo Township, Sarver, passed away Tuesday while in the company of family members at West Penn Hospital in Pittsburgh.

Harold was born in Brackenridge on Jan. 12, 1930. He was the son of the late Edgar A. and Elva C. (Hetler) Donnell.

Harold was a 1948 graduate of Har-Brack High School.

After graduation, he worked as a motor inspector at Allegheny Ludlum Steel, Dept. 9, Electric Shop for 44 years, retiring in 1992.

He was a longtime member of the Freeport United Methodist Church. Harold and his wife were members of the Country Music & Dance Club of Butler. He enjoyed listening to country and western music, camping, traveling and bicycling, but what Harold enjoyed most was spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife of 63½ years, Ruth A. (Clough) Donnell, and his six children, Janet Donnell of Dublin, Ohio, Karen (Terry) Egger of Dallas, Texas, Robert (Janice) Donnell of Sarver, Kathy (Leslie) Tucker of Ashburn, Va., Keith (Jamie) Donnell of New Kensington, Pa., and Julie (Jim) Simon of Boalsburg, Pa. He is also survived by his nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Harold was preceded in death by his brother, James Donnell.

DONNELL — The family and friends of Harold E. Donnell, who passed away Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2014, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Redmond Funeral Home, 524 High St., Freeport. The funeral service will be at noon Friday at the Freeport United Methodist Church, 211 Fourth St., Freeport, with Pastor James Young officiating.
