Two people were accused of growing marijuana plants in two West Sunbury apartments, according to charges filed by state police Friday, Jan. 12.

Carrie L. Nolan, 47, and Richard L. Nolan, 32, were charged with felonies drug sales and conspiracy and two counts of misdemeanor drug possession after, police said, more than 40 marijuana plants were found in the residences in April 2023.

According to documents, police served a search warrant on the West Sunbury Road residences on April 28, 2023.

Police said they found three marijuana plants underneath a grow light in the first apartment.

The second apartment’s living room housed six marijuana plants in a growing tent, four outside of the tent, exhaust fans, growing lights and a dehumidifier, police said.

Growing tents were also found in two bedrooms, according to documents. One bedroom had 13 marijuana plants in pots, and the other had 22 marijuana plants.

Police also found a bag of marijuana plant stems, fans and growing lights in the second apartments, document showed.

Samples taken from the plants were sent to the state police lab in Greensburg, and results showed the samples tested positive for marijuana and THC, police said.

Identification for the defendants was found in the first apartment, police said, and eviction notices for both apartments were listed among the evidence.

Preliminary hearings have not yet been scheduled.
