Harry 'Bill' Verner
Harry "Bill" Verner Jr., 82, of Hornertown, Petrolia, died at 8:15 p.m. Monday at his home following an illness.
Born July 17, 1927, in East Brady, he was the son of the late Harry L. Verner Sr., and the late Lillian Innes Verner.
Mr. Verner worked for Koppers Co., now Indspec, in Petrolia for 38 years, where he was a foreman. He retired in December 1978.
He was a Presbyterian.
He was a school bus driver for the Karns City School District for 10 years.
In the early 1960s he was the fire chief for East Brady Volunteer Fire Department.
He was a trumpet player with his brother Wilders G. Verner's Dance Band for years.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Patricia A. McElhaney Verner; a daughter, Samantha Verner Nalette of Williston, Vt.; three sons, Troy Verner of Pittsburgh, Harry L. Verner III of East Brady and Todd Verner of Butler; and 10 grandchildren.
The last surviving member of his immediate family, he is preceded in death by two brothers, John and Wilders Verner; and two sisters, Florence McIlhatten and Valerie Verner.
