June Hovis

June K. Hovis, 91 of Grove City passed away at 2:05 a.m. Monday at Autumn Grove Care Center in Harrisville.

Born June 3, 1923, in Harrisville, she was a daughter of the late James L. and Carrie B. Lynch Riddle.

June was a 1941 graduate of the former Harrisville High School.

She was a longtime member of Harmony Presbyterian Church in Harrisville. June enjoyed golfing in the ladies golf league.

On April 4, 1942, she married Virgil L. Hovis in New Castle, and he preceded her in death May 14, 2002.

Surviving are three children, Connie L. Branch of Arlington, Texas, Harvey L. Hovis of Millville, N.J., and David C. Hovis and his wife Shirlann “Sis” of Volant, Pa.; two sisters, Charlotte I. Allison and her husband, Robert, of Slippery Rock and Joann Shreck and her husband, Albert, of Meadville; seven grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one son, Bruce E. Hovis; six brothers and three sisters.

HOVIS — Family and friends will be welcomed from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday and 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday at Jamison Funeral Home, 117 N. Main St., Harrisville.Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in the funeral home with the Rev. Dr. Jeffrey Jones, Pastor of Harmony Presbyterian Church, officiating. Interment will follow at Prairie Cemetery.Memorial donations may be made to Harmony Presbyterian Church, 234 N.
