Mina L. Simons
Mina L. Simons, 88, of Allison Park, formerly of Valencia, passed away softly on Friday evening, Feb. 9, 2024, with her family by her side.
Our mom was so beautiful, kind and so FUN! She loved coffee and a good doughnut, Myrtle Beach and zipping around in her gold Taurus.
She was a proud Mars High School Class of 1954 graduate and took much pleasure attending her class reunions. She gave the most perfect gifts and was there at your doorstep before you even knew you needed her. Most of all, Nan's greatest tribute is that although she came from a nontraditional childhood, she was able to raise us up with manners and good morals. She would remind you what was not acceptable, how to dress your children and make very sure everyone had their sunblock on at the beach.
She was a nanny to many thankful families, but Nan's best times were probably at her townhouse in Allison Park at Christmastime, filled with her grandchildren or on a summer evening back from the pool, cooking up her best penne for all of us.
She is survived by her six children, Kathryn Socash, Steve Socash, Susan Dutko, Amy Beyer, Beth Schoedel and Ron Socash Jr.; 15 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister, Joyce Groom.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Simons; by a brother, Charles Hensell; and a grandson, Austin Sauer.
