Moniteau girls win 2OT thriller

It took two overtimes and a game-high 30 points from Catherine Kelly, but Moniteau downed West Shamokin in non-conference road action, 58-56, Tuesday night.

Abbey Jewart sunk one of her three treys at the end of the first extra frame to send it to a second tied 50-50. She finished with 10 points for the Warriors (16-5). Kelly added five rebounds in the win.

Cranberry 46, Union/A-C Valley 38 — Maddy Dehart had 16 points and 12 rebounds for the Falcon Knights. Ava Strauser had eight rebounds and Kya Wetzel 11 points and four steals.

A.Coe had 17 points for Cranberry.

Boys Basketball

Karns City jumped out to a 20-5 lead in the first quarter and rolled to a 67-46 victory at A-C Valley. Shane Peters had 21 points and 10 rebounds for the Gremlins (16-6). Hobie Bartoe had15 points and five steals.

Taite Beighley contributed seven assists, five rebounds and four steals. Jay Clover led A-C Valley with 19 points while Joe Rapp added 12.

Karns City plays in the KSAC Tournament against Clarion at 6 p.m. Friday at Clarion University.

West Shamokin 61, Moniteau 51 — Chason Rugg led the Warriors with 18 points. Andrew Zepeda added 10. B.Rodgers score 20 points for West Shamokin.

Moniteau had a 22-21 lead at halftime, but was outscored by 11 points in the second half.
