SRU student selected in 2024 symphony competition

The Butler County Symphony Association announced flute player Taylor Pastore as the winner of the 2024 Collegiate Concerto Competition following a contest held in January on Slippery Rock University’s campus.

Pastore, of Canonsburg, is a music education and psychology student at Slippery Rock University with over 10 years of experience playing the flute. She plans to work in music education after graduating.

Pastore is also a member of the National Flute Association’s collegiate flute choir, recipient of the John Philip Sousa award and a member of the Tri-M Honors Society. She performs with various musical organizations in Washington, Pa.

Pastore will perform with the Butler County Symphony Orchestra on March 2, playing “Ballade“ by Albert Perilhou during ”Mahler’s Titan“ concert in the Butler Intermediate High School auditorium.
