One injured in crash involving elderly couple

At least one person was injured in a one-car crash at the noon hour Saturday on Dinnerbell Road.

Dispatchers sent fire and rescue crews to the scene of an SUV over a bank just east of the intersection at Morgan Road in Penn Township.

A motorist on the scene said an elderly couple was involved in the crash.

The motorist, who stopped to help the couple and guide traffic until emergency crews arrived, said Dinnerbell Road was in good condition and not snowy or slushy near the scene, and that a young couple had stopped to help the elderly couple out of the car.

The motorist said the man appeared to have hand injuries, and dispatchers at Butler County Emergency Services told approaching ambulance crews that one occupant of the SUV was having chest pain.

Fire crews requested 911 dispatchers send a LifeFlight helicopter to transport one of the patients, but dispatchers replied LifeFlight could not fly due to weather.

The LifeFlight ground crew was sent to the scene to transport one patient to a Pittsburgh hospital, an emergency services dispatcher said.
