Cockroft Sr.

Frank M. Cockroft Sr., 81, of Chicora Road died unexpectedly Sunday afternoon at his home.

Born July 12, 1925, in Penn Township, he was the son of John E. and Margaret M. Robinson Cockroft Collins.

He had been a roller in the cold mill at Armco-Butler Works, retiring in 1986 after 39 years.

Mr. Cockroft was a member of the St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church in North Oakland.

He was a World War II veteran of the Army Air Corps and was a life member of the VFW Post 249 of Butler and the Chicora American Legion.

Surviving are his wife, Naomi J. Murdick Cockroft, whom he married Feb. 12, 1949; two sons, Frank M. Cockroft Jr. and his wife, Karen, of Butler, and Leonard A. Cockroft and his wife, Sandra, of Boonsboro, Md.; two daughters, Mrs. William (Shaina) Singer of Hilliards and Mrs. Bruce (Irene) Miller Sr. of Karns City; and two sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Baumgart and Mrs. Clarence (Grace) Fay, both of Butler. He also is survived by eight grandchildren, Travis S. Fife, Bruce Miller Jr., Cheri L. Conoran, Kristi L. Pletcher, Cindy M. Griffith and Diane M., Bryan A. and Shaun F. Cockroft; 14 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a grandson, Shane M. Fife, who died in 1997; three brothers, and two sisters.

<B>COCKROFT </B>— Friends of Frank M. Cockroft Sr., who died Sunday, April 22, 2007, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the <B>Geibel Funeral Home</B>, 201 E. Cunningham St. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home with the Rev. David DeWitt, his church pastor, officiating. Burial will follow at the Butler County Memorial Park with full military honors accorded by VFW Post 249.Information also is available at www.geibelfuneralhome.com.
