Lela Jean Wise Shaner, 86, of Muddy Creek Township, passed away Tuesday at Butler Memorial Hospital.

Born June 17, 1931, in Boyers, she was the daughter of the late Kenneth E. and Ruth May Crawford Wise.

Lela was a charter member of the Portersville Alliance Church, where she and her husband were founding members. She and her husband also assisted with the establishment of the Portersville Christian School. She was a homemaker and loved her flowers. She will be remembered for making flower arrangements for her family, friends and the church.

Surviving are her husband, Robert Shaner, whom she married Sept. 8, 1951, in Newport Ky.; her children, Mark (Diane) Shaner of Ellwood City and Eileen Shaner of Port St. Lucie, Fla.; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; her brother, Wesley Wise of New York; and her sister, Barbara Sterner of Grove City.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Brenda McCormick; her twin sister, Lila Rhodes; her sisters, Kathryn Peoples and Charlotte Patten; and her grandson, Derrick Stevens.

SHANER — Visitation for Lela Jean Wise Shaner, who died Tuesday, June 5, 2018, will be from 9 a.m. until time of the funeral service at 11 a.m. Saturday at Edward L. Raisley Funeral Home, 387 Main St., Prospect, with her preacher, Pastor Robert Frye of Portersville Alliance Church, officiating.
