Wayne Pflueger
Wayne Pflueger, 64, of Cabot entered into eternal peace Saturday at Good Samaritan Hospice in Cabot, after a 4-year battle with lung cancer, with his loving family by his side. His strong will to live, unwavering faith in God and the love and prayers of family, friends and many supporters carried him through his fight.
Wayne was born on Jan. 4, 1950, in Cabot to the late Harold and Wilma Diller Pflueger.
He graduated from Knoch High School in 1967.
He worked for US Airways for 24 years and retired as a customer service supervisor. After his retirement, he worked for the U.S. Department of State in the Bureau of Counselor Affairs as a passport specialist.
He had a real passion for serving his community. This translated into years of volunteer service, including Trails to Life USA Troop Committee Chairperson and former scout master and assistant scout master of Troop 21. He served on the Knight Foundation and was past president and vice president of the Knoch Band Boosters. He was a member of the St. Luke Lutheran Church, where he was former president, vice president and trustee and also a member of the Stephen Ministry.
He was a man of strong faith, believing in the power and strength of Jesus Christ's love and the beauty and peace that would await him after his passing. He enjoyed sharing God's word and listening to Christian music.
He is survived by his loving wife, Sandra Goldinger Pflueger, who he married on May 3, 1975; his son, Justin (Erin) Pflueger; his five grandsons, Evan, Lane, Jacob, Reece and Justin Jr.; his two brothers, Harold (Carla) Pflueger of Mars and Jeffrey (Diane) Lang of Cabot; his three sisters, Sandra Stoner of Cabot, Carol (Edward) Johnson of Cabot and Christine (Thomas) Skelley of Virginia; his stepsister, Rachel (Kenneth) Meissner of Saxonburg; and his stepbrother Glenn (Marney) Lang of Cabot.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepbrother, Ernie Lang.
Pflueger — The friends of Wayne Pflueger, who passed away Saturday, Dec. 20, 2014, will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today at the Fox Funeral Home, 410 W. Main St., Saxonburg.Additional visitation will be from 10 a.m. to services at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the St. Luke Lutheran Church, Hannahstown Road, Cabot, with the Rev. Barry Keurulainen officiating.
