Vintage Grand Prix looking for hangar party options

Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix Association officials are still looking for a place to hold a hangar party during this summer’s festivities.

The hangar party took place the past two years at Pittsburgh-Butler Regional Airport. But Dan DelBianco, executive director of the Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix, said the airport’s board of directors declined to host the event this year.

The Grand Prix is the nation’s largest vintage street race and spans 10 days with two race weekends, car shows, parties, parades and motor sport events. The event features races around courses throughout the Pittsburgh area. The event is scheduled for July 21 to Aug. 4.

The hangar party became part of the annual festivities in 2022. It debuted at Pittsburgh-Butler Regional Airport on July 21, inviting participants in the Grand Prix festivities for a night of fun in an airport hangar, where many show off vehicles made for the land and air.

The airport’s board of directors voted in December against hosting the hangar party. DelBianco again presented to the board in January with a request to host the hangar party, but the board’s decision did not change.
