William David “Bill” Vardy Jr., 81, of Butler, passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2024.

He was born on May, 5, 1942, in Phillipsburg, Pa., to the late William David Vardy Sr. and the late Grace Thelma (Rupert) Vardy.

Dave graduated from Butler Senior High School. He was a sergeant in the National Guard. Dave was a co-owner of Highway Repair Shop, that did auto body repair. After retiring, he worked in the maintenance department at Walmart. Dave loved go-cart racing and won many trophies. He enjoyed working on his classic vehicles and hunting. Dave was a member of Faith Fellowship Alliance Church. Most of all he, loved attending his grandchildren's sporting events and dance recitals.

He is survived by the love of his life, Barbara Anne (Sheakley) Vardy, whom he married on Nov. 24, 1967; one son, Scott Vardy of Chicora; two daughters, Lori (Dave) Richards of New Castle and Melissa (Dan) Vardy of Gilberts Ill.; three grandchildren, Gracyn Vardy, Walker Vardy and Cruz Vardy; two sisters, Gertrude (Bob) Saeler and Anna Vardy; 10 nieces; and five nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Randy Jason Vardy; one brother, James Vardy; and one nephew, Lance Vardy.

VARDY — A visitation for William David “Bill” Vardy Jr., who died Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2024, will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at THOMPSON-MILLER FUNERAL HOME, 124 E. North St., Butler.

A military service with full honors will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Faith Fellowship Alliance Church, 200 Faith Way, Butler. Following this will be a funeral service, with Pastor Andrew Wills officiating.
