Betty Katherine Rose
Betty Katherine Rose, 83, of Cabot, died Saturday afternoon at the Good Samaritan Hospice at Concordia Lutheran Ministries in Jefferson Township.
Born Feb. 28, 1923, in Johnstown, she was the daughter of the Clair B. and Margaret Moore Spangler.
Mrs. Rose was a member of St. Mark's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Butler, where she taught Sunday school for years and belonged to Disciples of Christ Sunday school class.
A former member of the Butler Little Theatre, she enjoyed reading. She also is a former member of the Saxonburg Womens Club.
Mrs. Rose graduated from Ferndale High School in 1940, and she also graduated from Conemaugh Valley Memorial Hospital Nursing School in Johnstown.
During the Korean War, she was a nurse for the Army in South Park. She also worked as a nurse at Children's Hospital and Allegheny Hospital, as a school nurse in the South Butler School District and as a volunteer nurse for the Saxonburg Golden Generals Marching Unit and for Red Cross blood drives.
Surviving are her husband, Daniel R. Rose of Cabot, whom she married Jan. 4, 1944; a daughter, Mrs. Aaron (Danell) Homsher of Vero Beach, Fla.; two grandchildren; a niece; nephew; two grand-nephews, and several cousins.
Mrs. Rose was preceded in death by two sisters, a brother and an infant son.
<B>ROSE</B> — Friends of Betty Katherine Rose, who died Saturday, Feb. 3, 2007, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the <B>Young Funeral Home</B>, 127 W. Jefferson St., Butler. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Mark's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 201 W. Jefferson St., officiated by the Rev. Alden Towberman.
