SRU baseball splits twinbill
SLIPPERY ROCK — The Slippery Rock University baseball team spit a doubleheader Friday at Critchfield Park, defeating West Virginia State 4-2 in the opener before dropping a 5-2 decision in the nightcap.
Panyko Morris hit two homers in the twinbill for SU (6-2). He had five RBI on the day as well. Gage Gillott pitched a complete-game victory in the first game, then collected three hits in the second contest.
Gillott is 2-0 with a 1.59 earned run average in 17 innings pitched so far this year.
West Virginia State is 6-7 on the season. The teams play a single nine-inning contest beginning at noon Saturday at Critchfield Park.
