Charges filed after 2 overdose in Muddy Creek Township; teens saved their lives

State police said teenagers saved the lives of two adults who overdosed while caring for them last month in Muddy Creek Township, and the adults were charged with child endangerment as a result.

Kari R. Allen, 40, and Jason E. Allen, 47, both of Prospect, were charged March 1 with two counts each of misdemeanor child endangerment after overdosing Feb. 20.

According to documents, two teenage girls discovered the Allens overdosed and laying on a bed within a residence on Sawyer Road. One girl administered CPR to Kari, while the other ran to a neighboring home, retrieved Narcan, and requested someone contact 911.

The Narcan was used to resuscitate the Allens and save their lives, police said.

Police responded to the residence around 8:40 p.m. that night, and discovered the Allens were conscious and alert. Police said they discovered a spent Narcan nasal spray device on scene.

When asked if there were other opioids in the home, Jason Allen indicated they had all been used, documents showed. No other illegal substances were found, according to police.

The preliminary hearing on these charges is scheduled April 17 before District Judge Joseph Nash.
