Thomas Paul Morgan Jr.

Thomas Paul Morgan Jr., 62, of Portersville, Slippery Rock Township, Lawrence County, passed away at his residence at 7:10 a.m. Friday following a 19-month illness.

He was born in Pittsburgh on Jan. 31, 1952, to Thomas Paul Morgan Sr. and Kathleen Rose Nigrelli Morgan.

He was married to Diane Lynn Gercken for 39 years.

He graduated from Penn Hills High School in 1969. He attended U.S. Military Academy Preparatory School in Fort Belvoir and then U.S. Military Academy for two years. He graduated from the University of Pittsburgh 1973. He was a U.S. Army veteran. He retired from PricewaterhouseCoopers, LLP where he was a partner and systems analyst. He went on to teach for three years at Duquesne University in Pittsburgh at the A.J. Palumbo School of Business Administration and John F. Donahue Graduate School of Business as an executive in residence for technology.

He was a member of St. Peter Roman Catholic Church in Slippery Rock and had served as a lector. He was a member of the Run America Club. He was a high school referee for football games. He enjoyed running, biking, kayaking and model trains.

Survivors include his wife, Diane, at the residence; three daughters, Krista L. Morgan and her fiance, Matthew Owczarzak, of Portersville, Michelle L. Bain and her husband, Matthew, of Chicago, Ill., and Heather L. Morgan of Portersville; one brother, Michael Morgan and his wife, Kelly, of Gibsonia; and five grandchildren, Samantha, Moreana, Lelynd, Keegan and Desi.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

MORGAN — The family of Thomas Paul Morgan Jr., who died Friday, July 4, 2014, will receive friends at the Smith Funeral Home, 421 New Castle St., Slippery Rock, from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday.A public funeral Mass will be held at St. Peter Roman Catholic Church, 670 S. Main St., Slippery Rock at 11 a.m. Wednesday.Private interment for the immediate family will be at Christ our Redeemer Cemetery, Cemetery Lane, Pittsburgh.Memorial contributions may be given to the donor's choice.
