Timothy E. Opperman, 53, of Pittsburgh's North Side died unexpectedly April 2.

Born July 17, 1956, he was the son of Genevieve (Kowalski) Opperman and the late James Q. Opperman.

Growing up on the North Side, he was a member of and attended the Annunciation Church and grade school. He then went to Perry High School, where he had many friends.

In the late 1970s, he helped form and played, (center 59) for the Perrysville Stars Football Team, enjoying the game, win or lose. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing and going to camp with lifelong friend Carl Maletic.

He was a member of the Local 1058, working many jobs in the Pittsburgh area as well as at Butler's Clearview Mall.

He later relocated to Houston, Texas, and Riverside, Calif., before returning to Pittsburgh, where he joined Local 95 and was chief engineer of the Omni William Penn Hotel for nine years before leaving in February because of health issues.

He was married to Dana (Bayless) Opperman on June 28, 1975, and had three wonderful children from their union.

Surviving are children, James Q. and Christine Opperman II of Burlington, Ky., and Carl Michael and Lorralee Opperman, both from Butler. He was the proud grandfather of four granddaughters and two grandsons, who he loved dearly. Also surviving are four sisters, Valerie Bottles, Mrs. Thomas (Marita) Baginski and Mrs. Donald (Barbara) De Temple, all of Pittsburgh, and Mrs. Michael (Jerry) Walsh of Murrysville; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

<B>OPPERMAN</B> — A service for Timothy E. Opperman, who died April 2, 2010, will be at noon Friday, April 16, at Emmanuel Christian Church, 1427 Davis Ave., Pittsburgh, North Side. For those who knew and loved him, please come and join us in the celebration of his life.Any contributions are truly appreciated and will go directly toward handling of his last affairs.
