Butler police say they had to Taser a drunken man who resisted arrest during a Sunday incident at his home in the 200 block of West Wayne Street.

But the jolt of electricity apparently did not put an end to Brian J. Vlassich's disruptive behavior. Officers said he later plugged the toilet in his holding cell with clothing and continued to flush it.

The 36-year-old defendant subsequently ended in the Butler County Prison, where he had to be strapped into a restraint chair.

Vlassich was arraigned this morning on charges of resisting arrest, criminal mischief and public drunkenness. He is being held in the prison on $10,000 bail.

An odd 911 call the suspect made about 5:20 a.m., according to police, first sent officers to his home. He claimed he was fighting his brother.

He advised authorities to “bring the whole police force,” said Deputy Chief David Adam.

When the dispatcher asked if there were any weapons at the house that police should be aware of, Adam said, Vlassich replied, “Bring lots of cannons.”

Officers found the defendant in the street. They described him as acting in an “irate and disorderly manner” and reeking of alcohol.

He pulled away from the officers when they tried to detain him and again when they tried to place him in back of a patrol car.

Eventually, a police report said, an officer placed his Taser against the suspect's body in “drive stun” mode to help subdue him.

Vlassich was subsequently taken to the station and placed in a holding cell. There, Adam said, the defendant stuffed in the toilet a shirt that he was wearing and tried to flush it, causing water to flood the cell.

Police removed the shirt from the toilet, but later he took off his underwear and attempted to flush that, too, creating another overflow.

He was placed in a restraint belt while in the cell until his arraignment. Later, police said, he kicked the rear window while seated in the back of a patrol car on his way to the county prison.

He was placed in a restraint chair once he got to the prison.
