A. Wayne Balsamo
A. Wayne Balsamo, 76, of Parker died Monday afternoon at Butler Memorial Hospital after a long illness.
Born in Parker, Aug. 24, 1930, he was the son of Thomas and Evelyn A. Walker Balsamo.
A graduate of Parker High School, he served in the Air Force from Jan. 5, 1951, to Dec. 21, 1954, and was honorably discharged with the rank of staff sergeant.
Mr. Balsamo was a Catholic. He was a 51-year member of the Charles A. Black American Legion Post 598 of Parker.
He began a career in the glass manufacturing industry while a student in high school and first worked at Knox Glass in Parker for years. He later worked at and retired from St. George Crystal of Jeanette.
Surviving are his wife, Dana Anderson Balsamo, whom he married March 26, 1956; three daughters, Valerie Balsamo-Gillespie of Butler, Renee Brown of Missouri and Danielle Balsamo of Manor; a son, Thomas "Tom" Balsamo and his companion, Donna Opsitnick, of Grapeville, Westmoreland County.; five grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
<B>BALSAMO</B> — Friends of A. Wayne Balsamo, who died Monday, April 23, 2007, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the <B>H. Jack Buzard Funeral Home</B>, Wayne Street, Parker. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be at the Parker Presbyterian Cemetery.
