Lillian E. Burns
Lillian E. Burns, 88, of Chicora died at 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Chicora Medical Center following a lingering illness.
She was born Feb. 1, 1920, in Donegal Township, the daughter of Harry and Mary E. Iman Collier.
She worked 15 years in the laundry department at Sunnyview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center until her retirement.
She was a member of St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church in North Oakland, the Christian Mothers of the church and the Women of the Moose of Chicora. She was an avid card player.
Surviving are a son, Dan Burns and his wife, Joyce, of Chicora; two daughters, Lois "Sue" Green of Chicora and Patty Pflug and her husband, William, of Butler; nine grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
She married Daniel Burns, Jan. 8, 1937. He died May 11, 1983. She also was preceded in death by two brothers, Lester and John Burns; and two sisters, Louise Gibson and Pat Parisi.
<B>BURNS </B>— Friends of Lillian E. Burns, who died Wednesday, Aug. 13, 2008, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the <B>Steighner Funeral Home</B>, 111 E. Slippery Rock St., Chicora. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at the St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, North Oakland, with the Rev. DePaul Ripko, O.F.M.
