Mary Ann McNany-Appleton
Mary Ann McNany-Appleton of East Brady, formerly of Valencia and a longtime Chicora resident went home to our Lord on Tuesday after a lengthy battle with metastatic cancer.
She was born on June 19, 1948, in Parker, Clarion County, and was a daughter of the late Norman L. Sr. and Mary Elizabeth Peters McNany.
Mary Ann was a deeply spiritual person who will be remembered for her wonderfully kind and generous spirit. She was a talented artist and enjoyed sewing and hand crafts.
Mary Ann attended Karns City High School and was a 1979 graduate of Butler Community College with a degree in business administration.
She was a longtime employee of Kennihan Plumbing in Valencia, and later Dollar Bank in Butler, until she retired.
She is survived by her son, Michael (Lisa) Thornton of Karns City; a brother, Len McNany of Chicora; two sisters, Pamela Cashmere of East Brady, and Norma Emerick of Quarryville Pa.; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; three nephews; and two nieces.
Mary Ann was preceded in death by her parents; her maternal and paternal grandparents; her husband, Frank Appleton; and her brother, Bob (Rita) McNany of Butler.
