Margaret Beck Tilley Sylves, 95, passed away Thursday at the Indiana Regional Medical Center.

She was born in Wishaw, Scotland, Dec. 15, 1915, to the late William and Mary Tilley.

Margaret lived in Swissvale from 1924 to 1978, in Tarpon Springs, Fla., and in Indiana, Pa., since 2000.

She was the manager of the family real estate and insurance brokerage business for 25 years.

Margaret served as chair of the East Suburban Pittsburgh Girl Scouts, was a member of the Swissvale Women's Club and a past president of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 63. She also was a volunteer for the Allegheny County Republican Committee.

She was a member of the Swissvale United Methodist Church and Sunday school and a member of the Grace United Methodist Church.

Margaret is survived by a daughter, Ellen Ruddock and her husband, Rodney, of Indiana; a son, Paul Sylves and his wife, Jane, of Butler; a niece, Janet Fey Cappy of Bonita Springs, Fla.; grandsons, Dana Ruddock and his wife, Michele, Darin Ruddock and Kevin Akridge; granddaughters, Joy Sylves and Megan Seippel and her husband, Justin; great-grandchildren, Andrea Ruddock, Reagan Ruddock, Owen Ruddock, Ava Buffoli, Mae Seippel, Kaylie Akridge and Daniel Ruddock; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, C. Lysle Sylves; a daughter, Vivian May Sylves Akridge; and siblings, George Tilley, May Tuteur and William Tilley.

Dr. Brad Lauster officiating.
