Robert G. Hilderbrand
Robert G. Hilderbrand, 83, of the Chicora-Fenelton Road, Fenelton, died at 10:25 a.m. Tuesday in Butler Memorial Hospital.
Born at his current home on March 13, 1926, he was the son of the late Christopher P. Hilderbrand and Annie M. Waltman Hilderbrand.
Mr. Hilderbrand was a member of Mater Dolorosa Roman Catholic Church in Chicora and attended St. Paul Roman Catholic Church for the past several years.
He was employed by B&O Railroad from 1944 until 1959 as a traveling foreman. He then began working for T.W. Phillips Gas and Oil Co. and retired in 2002 at the age of 77 after 44 years.
He was a founding member and a life member of the Happy Hunters Club and a member of VFW Post 7876 of Chicora and the Elks Club in Butler.
He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II as a second class petty officer in the South Pacific theater from 1944 to 1946.
He was a member of the Pennsylvania Independent Petroleum Producers. He enjoyed tending to his oil wells. He was an avid hunter and loved playing the Cash Five lottery. Bob also loved country music.
Mr. Hilderbrand married Shirley Lee Kaiser on Feb. 2, 1967, who preceded him in death on Jan. 31, 2002.
Mr. Hilderbrand is survived by his by one son, Brent D. Hilderbrand of Fenelton; one daughter, Kelli Jo Hilderbrand of Fenelton; one sister, Jean Helton and her husband, Harold, of Chicora; one brother, Carl Hilderbrand and his wife, Sandy, of Mount Chestnut; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife and parents, he also was preceded in death by one brother, Richard Hilderbrand, and one sister, Avanelle Dunmyre.

Hilderbrand, who died Tuesday, Aug. 25, 2009, will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at <B>Thompson-Miller Funeral Home</B>, 124 E. North St. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Paul Roman Catholic Church with the Rev. Father Steve Neff of St. Paul Roman Catholic Church officiating.
