Joe Tony Amendolea

Joe Tony "Muzzy" Amendolea, 90, of West Sunbury died at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at his home.

Born March 4, 1915, in Jamisonville, Clay Township, he was the son of Dominic Carl and Maria Rosa Zappia Amendolea.

He was a member of the Springdale Lutheran Church.

Mr. Amendolea retired from the Bessemer and Lake Erie Railroad as a trackman after 37 years.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing bingo and bowling in various leagues. He was also an avid Pittsburgh Pirates fan.

Surviving are his wife, Anna J. Smith Amendolea, whom he married June 23, 1951; a daughter, Mrs. Gerald (Karen) Bayless of Butler; two sons, Anthony A. Amendolea of Butler and Lonny G. Amendolea of West Sunbury; nine grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. Two sisters and a brother, Mrs. John (Theresa) Bain, Christine Keller and Joseph Amendolea, all of Butler, also survive.

He was preceded in death by three sisters and two brothers.

AMENDOLEA — Friends of Joe Tony "Muzzy" Amendolea, who died Thursday, Jan. 26, 2006, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 Sunday at the WILLIAM F. YOUNG FUNERAL HOME, 132 Main St., West Sunbury. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home with the interim pastor of his church, David Adams, officiating. Burial will be at the West Sunbury Union Cemetery.Memorial donations may be made to the VNA Hospice, 154 Hindman Road, Butler, PA 16001.Information also is available at www.youngfuneralhomes.com.
