Larry E. Weiland

Larry E. Weiland, 79, of Butler died Sunday at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh.

Born Oct. 5, 1938, in Butler, he was a son of the late Carl and Elva Weiland.

Larry was retired from the Armco Steel Plant, Plant 2 shipping department and had previously worked for Coca-Cola.

He was a member of St. Wendelin Roman Catholic Church, East Butler Firehall, Happy Hunters, Chicora Moose and various golf leagues.

He enjoyed hunting and keeping an immaculate yard, as he took great pride in his yard and his flowers and also grass cutting at Hiland Golf Course.

He was a veteran of the Pennsylvania National Guard.

Surviving are his wife of 59 years, Linda M. Shaffer Weiland, whom he married Oct. 18, 1958; one daughter, Marcia Koerner of Butler; one son, Douglas Weiland and his longtime companion, Jackie Spiece, of Butler; three granddaughters, Cara (Kyle) Hay, Cassie Koerner and Christy Koerner; his brothers and sisters, Ronald (Donna) Weiland of Oak Forest, Ill., Glenn (Judy) Weiland, Donna Lee Wells, Roger Weiland and Linda (Cecil) Crouch, all of Butler; his beloved pets, Maggie and Lexi; and numerous nieces and nephews.

WEILAND — Friends of Larry E. Weiland, who died Sunday, Dec. 3, 2017, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Geibel Funeral Home, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler.A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Wendelin Roman Catholic Church. The Rev. Matt McClain will officiate.
