Pennsylvania Game Commission postpones marten reintroduction plan indefinitely
The Pennsylvania Game Commission’s plan to reintroduce the marten into the state has been postponed indefinitely.
The Board of Game Commissioners voted 6-3 to postpone final acceptance of a long-term, 10-year plan which would have called for the reintroduction of martens into Pennsylvania, as well as the study of their progress.
A majority of board members felt more work needed to be done to educate the general public on the situation.
One of the three who voted against postponement was Kristen Koppenhafer, the board’s representative from District 1, which includes Butler County.
The marten reintroduction plan had been tabled in January.
