College Notes

EMMA COVERT (Moniteau), a freshman first baseman for the Grove City College softball team, picked up seven RBIs in the top of the seventh inning of the Wolverines’ 21-8 victory at Penn State Beaver on Saturday.

Covert had a three-run home run in her first trip to the plate in that frame, then had a grand slam in her second. She was the first Grove City player with two home runs in one game since Hannah Dietz accomplished such two Aprils ago.

MEGAN BAGGETTA (Butler), a freshman at Bucknell University, placed second in the triple jump at the Bucknell Team Challenge on Saturday. Her jump 39 feet, 4.25 inches was a season-best.

ALEX COTTON (Knoch) placed third with a discus throw of 142 feet, three inches as Penn State Behrend’s men’s track and field team competed at the Geneseo Quad Meet on Saturday.

Cotton also finished third in the shot put with a distance of 46-10.

RYLEE LONG (Moniteau) was part of the Penn State Behrend women’s track and field 400-meter relay quartet that finished as the runner-up at that same meet. The relay finished in 51.12 seconds.

DAVID LESLIE (Butler), a junior pitcher on Grove City’s baseball team, conceded just one single over five innings of work as the Woverines defeated Thiel, 17-0, in the second half of a twin bill on Saturday.

LUKE VITTONE (Eden Christian), a junior shortstop, had a double in that commanding win over the Tomcats.

TREY WAGNER (Mars), a sophomore outfielder, also added a double in the 18-hit effort.

TODD HANGLITER (Seneca Valley), a senior golfer at Grove City College, finished 28th overall with a 343 at Saturday’s Presidents’ Athletic Conference Spring Championships on Friday and Saturday at Mill Creek Golf Course.

JONAH KOZORA (Mars), a sophomore Wolverines golfer, shot 93-90-183 during the 36-hole session over the two days.

MEAH GROVES (Seneca Valley), a junior attack on Grove City College’s women’s lacrosse team, scored a pair of goals in a 14-8 home loss to Allegheny on Saturday.

TORI STEVENSON (Butler), a freshman midfielder, also netted a goal for the Wolverines in the loss.

ELYSE KIGGINS (Seneca Valley), a junior goalie, scooped up five ground balls for the Wolverines.

JOCELYN McNANY (Seneca Valley) had an RBI single in the first half of Penn State Behrend’s softball double-header against Penn State Altoona on Saturday, then added a two-run homer, a single, and 4 RBIs in the second.

Penn State Behrend won the first game, 5-2, and second, 13-5.
