Roberta E. 'Sue' Zanicky
Roberta E. “Sue” Zanicky, 60, of Butler passed away Saturday at her home surrounded by her family following a courageous battle with cancer.
Born on Nov. 10, 1954, in Butler, she was the daughter of Mary M. Shuler Rasely and the late Wilbert C. “Web” Rasely Sr.
She was employed in food service with the Butler School District for 27 years.
Sue was a member of the Saint Paul Roman Catholic Church, where she was a cantor and a member of the Handbell Choir. She was also formerly a volunteer at Butler Catholic School.
She lived for her grandchildren, and she loved serving the students at the schools where she worked.
She is survived by her husband, David A. Zanicky, who she married on Dec. 16, 1972; her son, David M. Zanicky and his wife, Stacy, of Fenelton; her daughter, Michele Smeltzer and her husband, Roger, of Kittanning; her four grandchildren, Samantha Lynn, Crystal Lynn, Shane Zanicky and Shelby Zanicky; her mother, Mary M. Rasely of Butler; her two brothers, Jim Rasely and his wife, Michele, of Slippery Rock; her two sisters, M. Stephanie Hook and her husband, Jim, of East Butler; and Cheryl “Peter” Cobern and her husband, Steve, of Butler, and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.
Zanicky— The friends of Roberta E. “Sue” Zanicky, who passed away Saturday, Feb. 21, 2015, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in the Martin Funeral Home, 429 Center Ave., Butler.The Saint Paul Catholic Women and Christian Mothers will meet at the Saint Paul Roman Catholic Church, 128 N. McKean St., Butler, at 9:35 a.m. Wednesday to recite the rosary.A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the church. Burial will take place in Calvary Cemetery.In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Saint Paul Roman Catholic Church, 128 N.
