Gary R. Thornton, 62, of Valencia, Middlesex Township, died Saturday.

Born Feb. 26, 1949, in Pittsburgh, he was the son of Almeda Thornton of Hampton Township and the late Edwin R. Thornton.

Gary was a member of the Gospel Fellowship PCA Church, where he was a deacon.

He will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered.

He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Hope (Cunningham) Thornton, who he married Oct. 10, 1970; his brother, John “Jack” Thornton of Gibsonia; his mother-in-law, Geraldine Cunningham of West Deer Township; his sister-in-law, Jean Lupnacca and her husband, Joe, of Gibsonia; a brother-in-law, David Phillips of Oregon; four nieces; a nephew; three great-nieces; and a great-nephew.

<B>THORNTON</B> — The family of Gary R. Thornton, who died Saturday, April 9, 2011, will welcome friends today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the <B>Schellhaas Funeral Home</B>, 5864 Heckert Road, Bakerstown, Richland Township, 724-443-1505. Funeral services will be at the funeral home Tuesday at 11 a.m. with Pastor Nick Protos officiating. Entombment will follow in Mount Royal Cemetery, Glenshaw.If desired, contributions may be made in his honor to the Thomas E.
