Joseph A. Tomei, Jr.

Joseph A. Tomei, Jr., 59, of 624 Harmony-Baptist Road, Castlewood, died unexpectedly Tuesday morning at his home.

Born Sept. 29, 1946, in Ellwood City, he was the son of the late Joseph A. and Virginia Sapienza Tomei.

He was a graduate of Lincoln High School in Ellwood City.

Mr. Tomei worked at Veka, Inc. in Fombell for 14 years as a tool and die technician and also as a maintenance mechanic. Prior to that, he was self-employed.

He was active in flying pigeons and was a member of the Harmony Invitational Pigeon Club, where he acted as secretary, and also the Penn-Ohio Pigeon Club, where he was the publicity chairman.

Surviving are his wife, Edith Niedermeir Tomei; two sons, Jason P. Tomei of Las Vegas, Nev., and Joseph C. Tomei of Phoenix, Ariz.; two stepdaughters, Joanne Leonhardt and Jennifer Fogel, both of New Castle; a stepson, John Niedermeir of New Castle; two sisters, Patricia Tomei of Ellwood City and Mrs. William (Christine) Aven of New Castle; a brother, Louis Tomei of Zelienople; and four step-grandchildren. His first wife, Linda Tomei of Phoenix, also survives.

<B>Tomei</B> — Friends of Joseph A. Tomei, Jr., who died Tuesday, June 13, 2006, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in the<B> Turner Funeral Home</B>, Sixth St. at Park Ave., Ellwood City.A blessing service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev.
